The Regional Marine Fisheries Governance and Management webinar series, launched by SWIOTUNA and ANCORS, aims to enhance understanding of fisheries management, policy, and governance in the Indian Ocean. The series provides a platform for stakeholders to learn about the role of Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs), their connections to conservation and climate change, and successful fisheries management practices from regions like the Pacific. The first two webinars, held in November and December 2024, focused on RFMOs' role in sustainable fisheries and the importance of monitoring, control, and surveillance (MCS) tools for effective management. With over 70 participants from various sectors, these webinars have sparked important conversations on regional collaboration and leadership in ocean stewardship, with future sessions planned to address decision-making within RFMOs.
