SWIOTUNA held its 4th webinar, in collaboration with ANCORS, on "Bridging the Gap: Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement and Fisheries Governance,". The webinar focused on exploring the potential interactions between the BBNJ Agreement and fisheries governance, with a particular emphasis on Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) such as the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC).
In attendance were over 36 participants drawn from the network and key partners. The webinar featured vibrant Q&A discussions, covering topics from high seas MPAs to GEF funding opportunities. Participants emphasized the need for regional voices, translated materials, and further dialogue.
What’s Next: A follow-up webinar focused on Africa’s role in BBNJ implementation is in the pipeline.
